I joined the Manchester office of NLP in 2008 upon completing a Masters in Town Planning at the University of Sheffield. When I left university I was keen to work for a planning consultancy so that I could take a pro-active approach to development and work across a range of sectors. NLP stood out to me for the diverse range of sectors that they work in, the focus on professional development and the friendly approach of the team.
Working at NLP has provided me with a broad experience base, having worked on projects ranging from minor planning applications to large scale mixed-use regeneration projects. As a Planner, working in a company on the cutting edge of its field has really motivated me in my career progression. NLP have supported my career development by mentoring me through the process of becoming a member of the RTPI and encouraging the development of a retail specialism.
I would recommend NLP as a great place to work. Whilst there is a close knit team in the Manchester office, you very much feel part of the wider company and there are plenty of opportunities to work with and develop friendships with staff across the company. An active social life is positively encouraged, through the company wide Christmas party, charity fundraisers, the annual NLP Walk and other social events throughout the year.
