I am a Senior Associate Director and have been working in planning consultancy for 12 years, the last 6 of which have been at NLP. I joined in September 2005 having previously worked in another planning consultancy based in London. I was attracted to the company because of its excellent reputation, its independence and the quality and range of development projects that it is involved with.

I work on a wide range of projects at NLP, from regional shopping centres, to care homes, to large residential schemes and have been given the opportunity on more than one occasion to be an expert witness at Inquiry: an experience I have found challenging and enjoyable in equal measure.

At NLP your career really is in your own hands, the company manages to achieve that balance of freedom and structure in its ethos which allows you to drive your career in the direction you want, whilst constantly pushing you to be better and produce work of the highest quality. The mentoring and appraisal systems we have in place are excellent and give you the confidence that the company cares about its staff and that careful time and thought is given to the career progression of each individual employee. I also like the fact that there is a 'door open' culture and colleagues will always find the time to have a chat about a difficult planning issue.

And after all that... there's always someone to go down the pub with at the end of the week!
