Ar-resting case wins beds for Travelodge!

September 15, 2011

NLP has won an appeal against East Hertfordshire District Council for refusal of a mixed use development on the former Hertfordshire Police Station, including an 80 bed Travelodge hotel.

The sole reason for refusal was that the hotel had failed to meet the sequential test.  Jacqui Deans, NLP Senior Associate Director gave evidence at the Hearing demonstrating that each of the identified sites would prove unsuitable, even taking account of the need to demonstrate flexibility in the nature of the proposal.  The Inspector agreed with this evidence in granted planning permission for the development and also awarded costs to Zog Brownfield Ventures Ltd and Hertfordshire Police Authority.
