NLP has been appointed to prepare evidence on the local housing requirements for Ribble Valley Borough Council. The study will apply NLP's HEaDROOM framework to assess the housing, economic and demographic factors shaping the requirements for new housing in the Borough’s Core Strategy. Tension between the growth in the ONS Household Forecasts and the need to respect the heritage and environmental assets of the Borough are likely to be foremost to the commission.
The appointment follows other recent commissions for NLP from both local authorities and housebuilders seeking to demonstrate appropriate levels of housing need, following the government’s intention to revoke Regional Strategies and the housing numbers therein.
NLP Director Michael Watts commented:
This appointment will form a key part of Ribble Valley Council’s evidence base and will underpin their emerging Core Strategy. It ensures that NLP remains at the forefront of planning for housing on behalf of both the public and private sectors.
