Downloading growth: 'killer apps' for planners

June 15, 2011

NLP today hosted a workshop at the RTPI Planning Convention 2011, entitled 'Downloading growth: 'killer apps' for planners'.

In a session chaired by Professor Philip Allmendinger of Cambridge University, Ciaran Gunne-Jones, NLP Associate Director, considered how the current 'reboot' of the planning system has many parallels with past responses to periods of national economic uncertainty. Matthew Spry, NLP Director, then identified the 'killer apps' that will be critical to the functioning of the new system, including tax increment financing, a new model for assessing sustainable development, and use of incentives.

NLP is delighted to be contributing to the debate at this year's RTPI Planning Convention about how planning can respond to the Government's clear message on the need to support economic growth
