NLP Beat the Odds on Albion Street

July 27, 2011

On behalf of Commercial Estates Group (CEG), NLP has successfully obtained planning permission for the change of use of a unit on Albion Street Leeds, from Class A1 (retail) to Class A2 (financial and professional services).

Despite the recent refusal of a similar application on an adjacent street and its associated current live appeal, NLP successfully negotiated with Leeds City Council, alleviating their initial resistance to the loss of a Class A1 unit in the designated Primary Shopping Frontage. NLP demonstrated that the unit had been marketed without success for a number of years and that an A2 town centre use in this location would be appropriate.

This is a fantastic outcome. Granting planning permission enables the occupation of a property that would otherwise remain empty, thereby enabling it to contribute positively to the vitality and viability of the city centre.
