NLP Highlights Housing Flaws at Examination

July 25, 2011

The Central Lancashire Core Strategy could be found 'unsound' for failing to comply with housing targets contained within the outgoing Regional Strategy for the area, following representations made by NLP on behalf of Taylor Wimpey.

NLP's evidence to the Core Strategy Examination in Public highlighted the absence of a robust evidence base to underpin the authorities' proposals to reduce housing numbers.  NLP used our HEaDROOM housing requirement forecasting model, to demonstrate that a step-change was needed in order for the area’s economic growth targets to be met.

The Inspector’s recommendation makes clear that local authorities cannot bring forward housing figures in Core Strategies without a clear evidence base
