NLP has submitted a planning application, on behalf of UK Land Estates Partnership Ltd, for a new purpose built bus depot off Handy Drive in Gateshead. The proposed depot would be operated by Go North East, and be the new base for the company’s operations across Tyneside.
The proposed development proposes the amalgamation of two existing depots into one new site, close to the Metrocentre Public Transport Interchange. The development will secure the long term future of over 500 jobs as well as allowing the existing depot sites to be redeveloped for alternative uses.
We are pleased to be working hand in hand with Go North East to secure a major new investment into the public transport services for the area and to promote a modern state of the art facility. This is great news for the region's economy and local jobs market.
