On behalf of Merlin Entertainments Group (Merlin), NLP has secured planning permission for the construction of a world-first attraction at LEGOLAND Windsor. Atlantis Submarine Voyage, which opened on the 20 May, is an indoor attraction comprising a new building housing a one million litre tropical ocean tank, which guests navigate by means of a special transit system featuring eight custom-built LEGO themed submarines. The development represents a unique partnering of a LEGOLAND park with SEA LIFE, Merlin’s global number one aquarium brand and will contribute towards marine conservation.
Other exciting SEALIFE projects that NLP has been involved with include obtaining planning permission for a SEALIFE Centre at Chessington World of Adventures and a pirate-themed aquarium, ‘Shark Bait Reef’ at Alton Towers Resort. NLP has also obtained planning permission and listed building consent for a comprehensive package of refurbishment works to the London Aquarium which opened to the public as the new look SEALIFE London Aquarium in 2009.
