Arts Centre, Godolphin and Latymer School, Hammersmith

St John the Evangelist is a Grade II* listed church by William Butterfield, one of the leading exponents of the Gothic Revival style of architecture in Victorian Britain and its Empire countries. The church was in a poor state of repair when acquired by our client, the Godolphin and Latymer School.

NLP negotiated with English Heritage, the Victorian Society and the Local Planning Authority to obtain planning and listed building consents to create a new multi-purpose arts centre for the school and community use designed by architects Burrell Foley Fischer.

The works involved the creation of a moveable seating system, set into the floor, and a highly adaptable lighting, blackout and acoustic control system. The high servicing requirements of theatre use needed to be sensitively inserted in the fabric of this important listed building. The project was designed by architects Burrell Foley Fischer.
