NLP was commissioned by the East Midlands Development Agency to assess 33 Employment Land Reviews undertaken by local authorities in the East Midlands.
The study sought to identify whether the existing reviews reflected the requirements of national policy in Planning Policy Statement 4 (PPS4) and took account of the economic recession. The study sought to identify whether further work was required for local studies to be robust at EiPs and therefore became the first comprehensive appraisal of Planning Policy Statement 4 (PPS4) compliance of the region’s local evidence for employment space.
The study provided a benchmark for all local planning authorities’ work on LDFs. It also provided the basis for informing the region’s Local Enterprise Partnerships in shaping their own approach to employment evidence.
