NLP has secured full planning permission and Conservation Area Consent on behalf of Red Kite Construction and Development Ltd which will see nine new family houses built in the rural village of Felton, Northumberland.

Overcoming Policy Obstacles

NLP successfully argued that the housing development would enhance the Felton Conservation Area and that the benefits of the scheme, including the early delivery of 5 affordable houses, allowed planning permission to be granted when considered against Core Strategy policies which sought to constrain new house building in the area.

NLP Associate Director Neil Morton said:

This was a classic example of how issues normally associated with much larger schemes, such as affordable housing negotiation, are now affecting smaller projects.  It was particularly satisfying to have overcome the policy constraints presented by the Core Strategy as these have led to the refusal of a number of housing applications elsewhere in the area.
