Local Authorities in Wales are required to apply National and Sub-National Household Projections as the starting point in assessing housing requirements. Following the publication of revised household forecasts, NLP was appointed to review the housing requirement figure in RCT’s draft LDP and assess whether it could provide an adequate basis for the delivery of sufficient housing in the County Borough.
As part of this work, NLP:
- Considered the relationship between housing and economic policies;
- Supported the Council in re-appraising the deliverability of housing allocations;
- Established a housing trajectory to inform the Council’s understanding of delivery and progress against its housing requirement.
- Made recommendations about changes to the strategy in advance of the Examination.
NLP made recommendations regarding the Council’s housing strategy and appeared at the LDP Examination.
