NLP has provided planning and Environmental Impact Assessment advice in respect of the reclamation of a former 220 hectare coal tip in Merthyr Tydfil for a number of years.
The Site is Wales’ largest Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) and is recognised as the most dangerous former coalfield site in the UK.
The project seeks the reclamation of the site by way of extraction of previously discarded coal.
NLP’s most recent work has involved coordinating a complex planning appeal for non-determination of an application for the site. NLP has also made representations to emerging Local Development Plan documents and represented our client’s interests at the Merthyr Tydfil Local Development Plan Examination.
